DOCTOR MADBLOOD'S MOVIES ARE COMING TO THE FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS ON WSKY-TV 4 On September 26, 2003, WSKY-TV, SKY4, will launch the second year of "Doctor Madblood Presents The Friday Night Frights" from 8pm - 11pm. This season's big news is the return of Doctor Madblood's Movie! Each new episode of Friday Night Frights will begin with either two half-hour Hitchcocks or one Thriller in rotation. The rest of each weekly program will feature "Dr. Madblood's Movie," brought back by popular demand and made possible by SKY4 president Glenn Holterhaus. The films will include horror hits, such as Theatre of Blood (Vincent Price, Diana Rigg), House On Haunted Hill (a notorious William Castle production), and the steamy Countess Dracula (Ingrid Pitt, Leslie Ann Down). Tossed into the mix will be classic cinematic clunkers, Brain That Wouldn't Die (Herb Evers), Werewolf in a Girl's Dormitory (Carl Schell) and Monster Zero (Godzilla!) The doctor will also be reunited with some good old fashioned science fiction with Enemy From Space (a.k.a. Quatermass 2) and Day of the Triffids (Howard Keel, Janette Scott), a staple of the Madblood universe for its first 27 years on the air. A weekly prime time version of the legendary local horror host's adventures enjoyed its successful maiden voyage during the 2002-2003 television season. The kindly befuddled mad scientist will continue in the same jocular vein that has amused and delighted audiences in SE Virginia and NE North Carolina since 1975. Doctor Max Madblood (Jerry Harrell) returns with handpicked classic episodes of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and Boris Karloff's "Thriller." These gems from television's golden age feature teleplays by authors such as George Langelaan (The Fly) and Robert Bloch (Psycho) along with early performances by stars like Darin McGavin (The Night Stalker), Anne Francis (Forbidden Planet) and Richard Chamberlain (Dr. Kildare). Joining the good doctor in his laboratory will be the usual zany band of Pungo residents. Mike Arlo (Dusty the Cropduster, Count Lacudra, Toulouse Latrine) returns as Madblood's second banana, along with regulars Penny Palen (Nurse Patience Dream), Craig T. Adams (Brain, Waldo, Uncle Feloneous) and Carter Perry (Ernie K. Monster). Frequent special guest Jewell Willis will be visiting Max more often, now that her character, the Sybil of the Swamp, has moved into the old Von Basketcase House next door. Ron Newman (Nuclear Lyle, Gil Gruesome) and Ken Johnson (Dr. Dee Kline) promise to drop by semi-regularly as well. Madblood's Gang continues their off-kilter brand of humor, which often mirrors or spoofs the content of programs presented. Sometimes the Pungo Players lampoon current films, popular TV shows or current events. Whatever happens to tumble into the operating room through the Doctor's Ethermorphic Receiver, viewers can count on it creating monstrous fun and merry mayhem. Join Doctor Madblood as he again presents the Friday Night Frights, every Friday night from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on SKY4, WSKY-TV. Now with Doctor Madblood's Movies joining the line-up, the saga continues with a hearty "Thanks for turning us on...!" |
